The Red Sled
My car is a 1991 Mazda Miata (red, of course). It has gone over 155000km
since it left the factory. I bought it used in 1995.
I drive it like someone else owns it.
Corrie doesn't always appreciate my driving. Neither do the police.
If I took good care of it and washed it once in a while, it might
look like this:
Sadly, it is usually quite muddy, and has many, many stone chips and
scratches.
Here's another picture of someone else's clean, shiny, polished
red miata:
Last October, I was viciously run down by an SUV. Okay, so it wasn't
actually viscous. It was just another Jeep Grand Cherokee
making an illegal left turn in front of me. This happens Very, Very
often.
I was mostly disappointed because the other 'driver' didn't damage
the hood of The Red Sled. I really wanted to get that re-painted. Maybe
next time.
There are so many poorly driven SUVs on Calgary roads. 'Drivers' not
paying attention, talking on their cell phones. Very dangerous
for The Red Sled.
Corrie's mother calls my car "The Pop Tart." Despite this, Barb and I
get along well. This is A Good Thing; Barb drives an
SUV.
Before my tires experienced serious abuse at the hands of their owner,
they looked like this:
They're Yokohama A509s, 185/60HR14, in case you care, which you don't.
They're mounted on stock 14" wheels. I've had them for four summers,
and expect to replace them early next year.
